Description
Pulmonaria (lungwort)
- Grows 12” tall
- Part shade to shade
- Foliage is attractive all season.
Lungworts look best grown in masses as a shady groundcover, or combined with hostas and ferns in a shady garden. Grown as much for their attractive leaves as for their flowers, lungwort’s foliage remains true all season – as long as the soil isn’t allowed to dry out. The genus name Pulmonaria and common name lungwort allude to its historic usage as a remedy for respiratory problems. Lungworts form low-growing clumps that slowly spread to form a groundcover without being aggressive and overtaking other plants.
