Uvularia Grandiflora (Large Flowered Bellwort)
$15.00
Also known as Great Merrybells. Excellent early-blooming native perennial for half-shade or shade garden. The Bellwort flowers and leaves have an overall droopy appearance when in bloom, but after the seeds are set, the leaves look somewhat like a needle threading the stem through the leaves. Attractive vase-shaped clumps of bigger yellow bell-shaped flowers with twisted petals.
This is a rhizomatous, slowly spreading perennial, but in a relatively short time it can form beautiful clumps. The seeds are spread by ants. Nice wildflower of the lily family (Liliaceae) for woodland garden, shade garden, shaded border front, wood margins, cottage garden, or for naturalizing under canopy of taller trees. In colonies (masses) it’s a good ground covering plant. Black walnut tolerant perennial.
