Purchased 97.5 acres of farmland

In 2020 we became water secure by installing an underground tank to catch rainwater. We also attempted growing maize and beans on rented land in 2021 to provide an independent food source for the children’s meals, but were stymied by zebras and donkeys devouring our crops. During a 2021 trip, a fantastic opportunity to purchase 97.5 acres of protected farm land became available, and with help from donors, we acquired this land at $348 an acre to secure our school’s food source.

2019 Garden Party Photo album

This was a big hit! We had so many wonderful donated items that everyone was a winner!
My husband Paul, three sons, Joseph, David and Erik, along with and my bassoon son’s teacher, Matt, provided us the cake walk music!
The food was not catered! We did it together as a joint family and friend effort!
There were 110 people in attendance!
Pamrell Larsen drove from Milwaukee to attend the party!

I gave each person at the party a “quiz” and and answers on the quiz came from these informational sheets on the tables.

August 18th, 2018 Ethnic Bread Making Class using Heritage Wheat was well received!

Alexandra Sakurets led a master class on baking bread at home with Heritage Wheat. Everything was done in the simplest way. She bakes rye and wheat bread, but the grains are veryspecial. This wheat was imported to Canada about 200 years ago by immigrants from Ukraine. So these seeds were not hybridized and contain a very low percentage of gluten.

Below are a couple of links to info about the difference between old wheat and modern.

The lesson lasted 2 hours. We brought nothing with us, but we went home confident and with directions in hand of how to bake this ourselves at our home!

I would love for her to teach the class again at a more quiet time of year. All proceeds to our school, the Bethany Pre and Primary School in Tanzania!

A delightful class. I hope for her to repeat it again at a later date!
